Events of the Day
Hot water and springs run under most of Budapest and several opulent and over-the-top thermal spas were built by Romans, Turks, and Hungarians.  The Gellert was today's desination - a building with both hotel and thermal faciltiies.  Pool entry is located on the side with wooden glass booths to purchase tickets.  This is followed by entry to a changing area - wooden booths with a reclining bed and locker.  To lock up, an attendant has to be flagged down and will manually lock.
The interior pools were trimmed with endless glazed tiles with marble pools and the exterior pools were 1950s type configeration that included a wave pool.   The city has a varity of Thermal spas - including large scale exterior pools with built in chess sets.   All are ready for some type of refurbishment.
Other stops included a stroll down the main shopping street Vaci Utca, Budapest Zoo, and evening stroll to view the lights of the city.   One painful reminder of Nazi history is the bronze shoes moment on the river bank.  From the high velocity Metro escalators to large scaled city sights, Budapest should always be a travler's destination.
