The architecture of the National Museum of African
American History and Culture is one of the most symbolic
and carefully designed buildings on the National Mall.
The building has a three-tiered, inverted pyramid shape
(wider at the top than the base) and the top structure is called
the “Corona” - inspired by a Yoruba caryatid crown from
West Africa
