                                    Day Twenty Nelson April 02

                                               

                                            A day to enjoy warm clear skies at the Nelson Founders Heritage Park.   The park is both original

                                            vintage and recreated buildings in Nelson's history.  Different types of vintage transport was also

                                            included.  Interesting aircraft was the Bristol Freighter used to transport containers between North

                                            island and Nelson.  The front loading fleet was used for 35 years until 1986.

 

                                            Other leisure activities included shopping downtown and walks on the beach.  A main beach extended

                                            into a peninsula in the bay.  When the fast moving tide withdrew, it was easy to walk a distance into

                                            the bay on the soft sand.
